Enjoy the beautiful view from indoors or from the upper deck during the boat trip. On board, the Portlantis guide tells the story of Maasvlakte 2 (in Dutch). Foreign speakers can follow an audio tour via their smartphones. Don’t forget your headphones!
Maasvlakte 2 Boat Trip
We cast off on days when Portlantis is open; Tuesday through Sunday. During the 75-minute boat trip, the Portlantis guide tells you in detail about the Port of Rotterdam and Maasvlakte 2. You sail toward Maasvlakte 1 through the newest container terminals at Maasvlakte 2. Here you can see the container terminals in full operation. On board, the guide explains more about the differences between the original terminals and the newest ones (Rotterdam World Gateway and APM Terminals). You’ll also sail past offshore company Sif, where you’ll see one of the world’s largest wind turbines in addition to the huge foundation piles for offshore wind turbines. And you have a view of the expansion of Neste, producer of renewable biofuels. In addition to renewable diesel, they also make sustainable jet fuel (SAF) from renewable resources such as waste and residues.

No visit to the port is complete with just a boat trip. That’s why you will receive a discount when you book a boat trip including an entrance ticket to Portlantis. This discount will be automatically deducted at checkout.

Important
he shuttle bus to the boarding location leaves from the Portlantis parking lot 15 minutes before departure. Make sure you’re at the bus on time. If you are dependent on a wheelchair, it is possible to drive to the pick-up point using your own transportation. The tour boat itself does have wheelchair access. Please contact us to arrange your visit.
Drinks and snacks are available on board at the bar. A toilet is available. Children under 14 may participate only when accompanied by an adult. A ticket must be booked for each participant, including children up to age 2. Assistance dogs are allowed in Portlantis and on board, other pets are not.
Weather conditions or construction work may alter the route and programme; in extreme cases, it may result in cancellation of the activity. You will be informed of this in good time.
