Accessibility
All the floors at Portlantis are accessible by elevator with a wheelchair, walker or stroller, including the panoramic deck. Wheelchairs are also available on loan at Portlantis. Limited seating is available throughout the exhibition.
Restrooms are available on several floors. Disabled restrooms are available on the ground floor and near the restaurant on the fourth floor.
Boat Trip & Bus Tour
Boat trip
The boat trip vessel is wheelchair accessible. A bus will be used for the transfer to the pick-up location, but these are not wheelchair accessible. However, you may drive your own vehicle to the boarding location at the Prinses Margriethaven. Follow Europaweg 902, Port number 8360, 3199 LC Maasvlakte Rotterdam, or use Google Maps.
Bus Tour
Bus Tours from Portlantis are carried out by coach, which unfortunately are not wheelchair accessible. A tour of the port area in your own vehicle can be a pleasant alternative, with the audio tour being the perfect addition.
Assistence
Companion
If you cannot move through Portlantis independently you may bring a companion. This person can enter free of charge.
Assistance Dogs
Assistance dogs are allowed in Portlantis and aboard the bus and boat. Pet dogs and other pets are not allowed.
Blind and visually impaired visitors
Portlantis is an interactive environment. A number of exhibits make extensive use of a visual experience. This means that for people with visual impairments, not all parts are usable. Nevertheless, a visit is still interesting. For people with visual impairments, key texts can be listened to using the general audio tour in the ExpoApp.
Deaf and hard-of-hearing visitors
For visitors with hearing impairments, most of the films are subtitled. Also, some expo components, such as simulators and interactive screens, are also usable without auditory support.
Stimulus-sensitive visitors
Part of the exhibition in Portlantis contains sound and light effects that may bother stimulus-sensitive people. To reduce the stimuli during your visit, we recommend that you visit Portlantis at quiet times: on weekdays after 14.00 hours, outside school vacations and during the winter period, crowds are less likely.
Attraction: Helios Experience
The Helios Experience is an exciting attraction with motion seats, fast-moving images and sound and light effects. The Helios Experience is accessible by wheelchair. Please ask for assistance from one of our staff members. The Helios Experience is not suitable for pregnant women, or people with heart problems or epilepsy.
Parking
There is ample free parking at Portlantis. Five spaces are reserved in our parking lot for visitors with limited mobility.
