Raising thresholds in buildings
Raising thresholds in buildings with a waterproof plinth will prevent inundation in the case of minor flooding to a level of approx. 20 cm.
- Applicable to land, buildings;
- Spatial adaptation;
- Permanent measure;
- Small investment;
- Prevents economic damage;
- Applicable at flood depth up to approx. 50 cm.
Thresholds for sites
A raised threshold makes the building less accessible. You can overcome this by building the threshold as a ramp.
To prevent flooding in lower sections of a site, you can include thresholds at relevant locations on the site. This will ensure that these sections are not flooded.
You can limit or prevent damage with permanent – or possibly temporary – thresholds.
