Increase drainage and run-off capacity
By including a gentle incline at a site with a slope and drainage channels, you can ensure that water will not be left standing on the site for a long time after a flood. These measures enhance drainage capacity, allowing water to drain away faster.
- Applicable to land;
- Spatial adaptation;
- Permanent measure;
- Substantial investment;
- Prevents economic damage;
- Applicable at flood depth up to approx. 50 cm.
Once the water level in the port falls again after a storm, water flows away naturally from areas that drain freely into the surface water. You can speed up this process by including a gentle incline at a site. Where this is not possible, allow the water to run off to a part of the site where there are no buildings or to a green space.
