Ballasting tanks
By filling tanks with ballast, you stop them from floating during a flood and causing damage to tanks, assets or people.
• Applicable to factories and installations;
• Crisis management;
• Temporary measure;
• Small investment;
• Prevents economic damage;
• Applicable at all flood depths.
Tanks can be adequately ballasted by filling them with water or the liquids for which the tank is intended if there is a flood threat. There is a greater risk of tanks floating when they are located on steel than when they are founded on piles.
In order to fill the tanks quickly enough when there is a flood threat, there must be adequate pumping capacity to introduce sufficient ballast in time.
