Rotterdam Food Hub

How can we help you?

Rotterdam Food Hub is the brand-new location for the agrifood sector. A 60-hectare site is taking shape at the entrance to the Maasvlakte, on the Calandkanaal, providing agrifood companies with space to establish. The quayside connections assure that refrigerated and frozen cargo can be handled sustainably, quickly and reliably. This strengthens Rotterdam’s position as the largest West European transhipment port for the agricultural, horticultural and fishery sectors.

Speed is crucial

The agrifood sector relies on speed, hence the Rotterdam Food Hub’s strategic location. The large deep-sea container terminals are just a stone’s throw away, as are other facilities such as the Cool Port and the cold storage warehouses on the Maasvlakte and in the Eemhaven. Moreover, the site’s proximity to Greenports such as Barendrecht, Ridderkerk and Westland makes it an ideal business location. Another advantage is that a number of collective facilities are already in place on the Rotterdam Food Hub site, thus promoting further efficiency and collaboration.

Extensive facilities for reefer containers

The port of Rotterdam offers all the required facilities and services for shipping fresh products in reefer containers. In fact, there are no fewer than 18,500 reefer connections in Rotterdam’s container terminals. That is more than anywhere else in the world. What’s more, the port of Rotterdam has excellent connections, both with the main producing countries overseas and with a European market of over 500 million consumers.
