Distribution of road transport
Off-peak distribution
The Port of Rotterdam Authority, together with market players, is exploring ways to improve the flow of freight in the port and make it more sustainable.
Increasing road congestion, longer waiting times at terminals, planned roadworks and the transition to more sustainable transport are creating new challenges for all parties within the port.
One solution is to avoid road transport during peak hours. Individual companies interested in this can get more insight into what this will bring them. Analyses based on historical on-board computer data reveal opportunities for distribution optimisation while contributing to the collective improvement of throughput through the port.
This exploration of further optimisations is part of the European MAGPIE grant project. We have room for more companies to participate. So are you a transport company with cargo in and around the Rotterdam port area and want to participate as a pilot party?
What does participation bring?
- Insight into current and historical route planning through PowerBI dashboard with KPIs
- Insight into potential implementation of off-peak distribution within an organisation
- Participation to add personal KPIs to the analyses
- Insight into current emissions (including CO2) and tips & tricks to reduce emissions
